SIGN LANGUAGE
Instruction for families with parents or children who are deaf or hard of hearing are offered at locations and
times based on those attending, as FCD staff schedules permit. The curriculum focuses on the signs most needed for successful interaction
at home. The instructor also provides an introductory link for families to information and services related to hearing loss.
Sign language interpreters with expertise in serving this population are provided to FCD clients to make existing community programs
and services accessible. These specialized interpreter services are also available for purchase by local not-for-profit entities and
the Pinellas County School Board at a cost that is more affordable than what is normally.
