ELIGIBILITY

The extensive array of service components offered by the FCD is accessed by a client population with similar yet individual needs profiles. Participants review all FCD activities during the Intake Interview and determine with the Youth & Family Support Specialist which elements represent the most beneficial investment of their personal time and resources. In situations where demand exceeds capacity, enrollment in each component is based upon prioritization by FCD staff of the relative potential benefit for each applicant.

Eligibility is contingent upon residency or educational placement Pinellas County, Florida.  To qualify to receive services, an individual or a member of his/her household must register at intake with a physical address that lies within these boundaries.  The person must also be included in one of the following categories:

·        A youth (birth through completion of high school) who is deaf or hard of hearing, as determined by qualifying to receive educational support services for students with hearing loss.

·         A young adult who is deaf or hard of hearing, as determined by having previously qualified to receive educational support services for students with hearing loss, who has left high school (graduated or dropped out) within the past twelve months or is still enrolled in a post-high school Pinellas County Schools program.

·         A youth (age 0 through 18) who is hearing and living in a home with a parent or other significant adult who is D/HH.

·         A parent or significant adult in the home of an individual falling in one of the categories above, whether D/HH or hearing.

·        A parent or other significant adult in the home who is D/HH and has school-aged children living at home.

When the above criteria have been met, the needs of the client are evaluated to determine if the services offered by the FCD are appropriate to addressing those issues.  Eligibility to receive program services is maintained by individual effort to achieve personal goals and appropriate use of program resources.
