The program operates from its primary office each weekday that Cross Bayou Elementary, the facility in
which it is housed, is open. Staff members work from alternate locations when it is closed and remain
accessible by telephone. FCD programs are closed on the same holidays as its parent organization, the
James B. Sanderlin Center. Office hours are normally 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, although
many program activities are held on evenings and weekends. Additionally, clients are seen outside of
office hours by appointment when necessary.
FCD Primary sites are accessible to public transportation, with all three schools located within
walking distance of a main bus line on 66th Street North. The program arranges transportation for
students for field trips, community service projects, and special events. Transportation is also
available to parents who are unable to use public transporation at night with children to attend
parenting activities. The program staff assis in arranging car pools for participants too young
to travel alone on public transportation.
The FCD comply with all requirements set forth in the ADA. All program activities occur in facilities
accessible to individuals with disabilities, including strobe fire alarms. Communication devices such
as ttys and video relay equipment are available to clients, with text messaging telephones provided for
deaf and hard of hearing employees. Sign and foreign interpreters are used for staff and participants
whenever needed.
